Torque Is felt much, much sooner and more throughout the rev range. Now I can cruise in 6th gear at the same speeds and the engine has much better response and doesn't feel overloaded AT ALL. Before, when cruising at 40 mph I would keep the bike in 4th gear as any higher gear would cause the engine to have very little response and bog down under load. Power: Wow, the increase in low-end torque is very clear and makes the FZ-10 more fun to ride in general. They were able to clear any trouble codes on the ECU from removing those systems and disable them so no codes would be thrown from the mods in the future.ģ. Mods: I have removed the EXUP, AIS and 02 Sensors and installed the Dan-Moto Stainless Cat-Delete pipe. I shipped out my ECU 2-Day air from Florida on Monday to be delivered on Wednesday and he had it back to me by 12:00 noon on Saturday.Fast Service, considering I live on the opposite side of the US.Ģ. Service: Nels was professional and very quick to respond with any questions I had concerning the flash and shipping process. Just received my ECU back from 2WDW and all I can say is wow, there is a very noticeable difference.ġ. I still need to evaluate a and b ride modes. From a streetable perspective, I can attest to the fact that the ECU flash will make your stock FZ-10 much more crisp and responsive to throttle inputs, as well as more powerful from idle to redline. I would like to take an extended high-RPM romp, but even first gear near redline is far exceeding non-freeway speed limits. But, it's not "in your face" whacky, Bultaco MX style, crossbar to the mouth delivery, it just offers more than before, the revs climb smoother than before, and quicker than before. The lack of throttle restriction below 8k RPM is part of it, but the additional power is obvious. Almost like adding a tooth or two to the rear sprocket. The wheelies that we all do because we can and they're silly fun? They now happen sooner and more often. The answer is yes, but not in the way you might expect. Would 10 or 12 or even 14 extra horsepower make a huge difference? After all, the bike was fast right from the showroom floor. This is where I didn't really know what to expect. This is true both opening and closing the throttle. The revs very quickly change to match whatever throttle position you choose. Through the rev range, responsiveness is the most noticeable change. Kind of like a carbureted bike with zero slack, or even a small amount of preload in the throttle cable. Not even a slight lull in responsiveness to throtttle inputs off idle. Rolling out in B mode, I can immediately feel the the B mode jerkiness is now more pronounced. It has a very slight difference in cadence. I can detect some sort of adjustment to the fueling or timing at idle. The battery was disconnected all week, and the ECU removed, but all the settings for traction control, ride mode, and quick-shifter remained as they were. No codes, no weird lights, nothing strange at all. This gave me just over and hour to install the ECU and reconnect the battery. I was worried that he ECU might be calling my name all day. My wife had taken the afternoon off because I've been out of the country all week. As we approached our driveway, the mail lady was leaving. My wife picked me up at the airport this afternoon. My ECU arrived today (Friday) even though I'm at the opposite corner of the USA. Tuesday afternoon I had an email with the return shipment information. Being a holiday weekend, I anticipated the work to start on Tuesday. My ECU arrived at their shop last Friday afternoon. I had zero issues getting questions answered and communicating the payment, delivery and such.Ģ. The guys at 2WDW are professional and responsive.
